Renata Romain
Renata Romain is a seasoned media producer from New York City with over two decades of experience.
She began her career in 2001 at Emmis Communications, working for WRKS 98.7 Kiss FM and Smooth Jazz CD 101.9, later moving on to producing for Court TV. From 2007 to 2017, Renata gained prominence as a national morning show host on Sirius XM's Hip Hop Nation, where her high profile interviews with music superstars, and Hollywood A-listers helped transform the channel into one of Sirius XM’s most popular platforms.
Driven by her passion for non-fiction storytelling, Renata earned a Master’s degree in Documentary Film Studies from New York University, where she was awarded the 2022 e. Frances White Award for distinguished work in intersectional identities. While at NYU, she interned at Florentine Films with Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, and her thesis film, ¿Y Tu Abuela Dónde Está?, garnered attention from acclaimed filmmaker Sam Pollard, who served on her Master’s defense panel.
In 2015, Renata founded Romain Creative Media, where she directs and produces non-fiction films with a commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices, blending artful storytelling with cultural exploration. She currently has several projects in development for 2025 and teaches at Cuesta College, where she mentors the next generation of media professionals.
